{"id":40,"date":"2011-01-22T02:16:02","date_gmt":"2011-01-22T02:16:02","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/findingpepe.wordpress.com\/?p=40"},"modified":"2019-10-21T14:02:00","modified_gmt":"2019-10-21T14:02:00","slug":"welcome","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/findingpepe.com\/?p=40","title":{"rendered":"Welcome."},"content":{"rendered":"<p>I have made a lifetime art out of thrift shopping.\u00a0 Not &#8220;vintage shopping&#8221; (perusing carefully-edited collections of retro chic finery, cleaned and masterfully displayed\u00a0 &#8211; although I love this too), but the <strong>down-and-dirty thriftiest of the thrift.<\/strong> Salvation Armies and Goodwills and the odd St. Vincent De Paul Society.\u00a0 It takes strength and determination to wade through these gritty overstuffed racks, but it provides me endless enjoyment.\u00a0 <strong>The sport of the chase.<\/strong> While I have found many vintage-store-worthy garments over the years, I have also logged a vast memory of<strong> <\/strong>spectacles that make me stop in shock and say,<strong> &#8220;What? Why? How?&#8221; <\/strong>Garments so bad I will remember them always&#8230;mostly late at night when thoughts of their horror keep me awake.\u00a0 When I found (ok, created) a kindred thrift spirit in Alexis, it was clear we needed to document these atrocities.<\/p>\n<p>However, much like my favorite-ever thrift store outfit, <strong><a href=\"http:\/\/findingpepe.wordpress.com\/about\/\">Pepe,<\/a> <\/strong><strong>sometimes I find something which stretches so far into wrong that it circles back around into very right.<\/strong> Something that sits on the delicate precipice separating amazingly bad from amazingly good.\u00a0 <strong>Finding Pepe refers to the quest for garments that walk this line.<\/strong> While there are a few Pepes in this blog, the majority are just disasters.\u00a0 I post these images as a warning.\u00a0 <strong>Those who remain ignorant of history are doomed to repeat it. <\/strong><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>I have made a lifetime art out of thrift shopping.\u00a0 Not &#8220;vintage shopping&#8221; (perusing carefully-edited collections of retro chic finery, cleaned and masterfully displayed\u00a0 &#8211; although I love this too), but the down-and-dirty thriftiest of the thrift.
